In case we do not know the density of the filament, we can roughly calculate the density.
By cutting the filament into 2-3 cm lengths (the length depends on your convenience), measure the length of the filament and weigh the cut filament.
Once we know the weight and length of the filament, we can find its density.
Formula for calculating the density of filament
ρ: Density (Density) unit g/cm3
m: Weight (Mass) unit g
v: Volume (Volume) unit cm3
S: Area (Area) unit cm2
l: Length Length unit cm
r: Radius (Radius) unit cm
example
We have 1 kg of PLA filament and know the total length is 335 meters, then we substitute the values into the density formula and get the density approximately = 1,000 grams.
Density = Weight / Volume
Density = 1,000 / [(3.14*0.875/10)*2]*33,500
Density = 1.241 g/cm3
