ABS Hight Temp (ABS-HT) eSUN Filament

Description

Material/Type
  • It is a type of ABS filament plastic that has been modified ("modified ABS") to have higher heat resistance than regular ABS.

  • Diameter: 1.75 mm

  • Net weight of the spool: 1 kilogram

Main features

  • Highly heat resistant — The “heat distortion” temperature (the point at which the plastic begins to deform due to heat) reaches approximately 100 °C.

  • High strength — possesses good tensile strength and flexural strength.

  • Impact resistant — has “high toughness” and “impact resistance,” meaning it can withstand impacts well.

Printing (Print Settings & Tips)

  • Recommended nozzle temperature: 240–260 °C

  • Recommended base/bed temperature: 100–120 °C

  • Fan speed: 0% — It is recommended to turn off the fan or use it very little to help reduce shrinkage and warping.

  • Printing speed: Less than 200 mm/s

  • Print in an enclosure because ABS (including ABS-HT) shrinks considerably — using an open printer can easily lead to warping problems.

  • It is recommended to "seale" the printing chamber (insulated printing) to maintain a consistent temperature.

Recommended Usage (Applications)

According to the eSUN website, ABS-HT is suitable for applications requiring heat resistance, strength, and impact resistance, such as:

  • Industrial parts

  • Automotive parts

  • Electronic or electrical appliances

Cautions / Potential drawbacks

  • ABS has high shrinkage – if not used in a sealed enclosure or with temperature control, warping or distortion of the workpiece can easily occur.

  • A heated bed is required — a bed heated to approximately 100–120 °C — to ensure strong adhesion and minimize warping.

  • Odor/Fume — ABS, as a printed plastic, may produce an odor (volatile organic compounds) — good ventilation is recommended, or use filters if working in a closed room.

  • When checking specifications/loading filament, be mindful of moisture – ABS plastic can absorb too much moisture, affecting print quality.

Advantages compared to conventional ABS.

  • Higher heat resistance than ordinary ABS → Suitable for higher temperature applications.

  • Good strength and impact resistance → Suitable for parts that need to withstand force/mechanical stress.

  • Heat resistance doesn't come at the cost of brittleness — it has "toughness" which means it doesn't easily break when impacted.

Recommendation: If you're using a 3D printer with an enclosure and need parts that can withstand high temperatures (such as engine parts or hot equipment components), eSUN ABS-HT is a very good choice. However, for general or cost-effective applications, you might also consider standard ABS or other plastics (such as PETG).
