eSUN's ASA+ is an engineering-grade filament with excellent UV and weather resistance. Prints will not fade or become brittle even when exposed to sun and rain. It is strong and impact-resistant, making it suitable for outdoor applications, automotive, and construction. Complete specifications and printing tips are included.
ASA+ from eSUN is an engineering-grade filament specifically designed for outdoor applications. What sets ASA+ apart from typical materials is its resistance to UV radiation and harsh weather conditions. This ensures that printed parts do not fade, become brittle, or degrade easily, even when exposed to sun and rain for extended periods. If you've been frustrated with ABS parts that discolored or became brittle when used outdoors, ASA+ is the perfect solution.
ASA stands for Acrylonitrile Styrene Acrylate. It is a plastic with a structure and mechanical properties similar to ABS, but with added features of sunlight resistance and aging resistance. eSUN's ASA+ formulation has been enhanced to provide higher toughness, rigidity, and impact resistance, making it suitable for parts that need to withstand forces and real-world environmental conditions.

ASA has a relatively high shrinkage rate, similar to ABS. Therefore, it is recommended to print in an enclosed chamber to maintain a stable temperature, reduce warping and layer cracking issues. Additionally, set the fan speed low or turn off the fan for the initial layers to ensure good layer adhesion, and always store the filament in a dry box to maintain print quality.
With its excellent sun and weather resistance, ASA+ is ideal for outdoor applications and engineering projects, such as automotive parts and accessories (Car), building materials and architectural applications (Building Materials), outdoor signs and decorations (Outdoor), as well as cases and components for electrical and electronic devices (Electronic & Electrical).
Both materials offer similar strength and heat resistance, but the clear advantage of ASA+ is its UV and weather resistance. ABS, when exposed to outdoor conditions for extended periods, tends to yellow and become brittle, whereas ASA+ maintains its color and strength much better. If your parts are for indoor use, ABS is sufficient, but for exposure to sun and rain, ASA+ is a more worthwhile choice.
If you are choosing materials for engineering or functional applications, consider these additional options:
ASA+ from eSUN is a filament that meets the demands of 3D printing for outdoor and real-world weather conditions. With its UV resistance, aging resistance, and engineering-grade strength, simply print in an enclosed chamber and follow the recommended settings to achieve durable and aesthetically pleasing outdoor parts.
