PA6-GF25 3D Printing Filament, 25% Glass Fiber Reinforced Nylon, Engineering Grade Toughness, Heat Resistant to 210°C

2 min reading time

PA6-GF25 is a 25% glass fiber reinforced nylon (PA6) 3D printing filament that combines mechanical strength, high heat resistance, and dimensional stability in one filament. It is suitable for parts that need to withstand heavy use in real production lines.

For 3D printing applications that are subject to impact, heat, or continuous use in real-world environments, standard filaments are often insufficient. PA6-GF25 was therefore developed to specifically address these needs. By reinforcing Nylon 6 (PA6) with 25% glass fiber, it creates a material that is strong, durable, and dimensionally stable, making it ideal for engineering and industrial applications requiring high reliability.

Key Properties of PA6-GF25

The strength of PA6-GF25 lies in its perfect combination of mechanical properties and heat resistance:

  • High Heat Resistance — With a Heat Deflection Temperature (HDT) of up to 210°C, printed parts maintain their shape well even in high-temperature environments.
  • High Mechanical Strength — It boasts a Tensile Strength of approximately 125 MPa and a Notched Impact Strength of 9.4 kJ/m².
  • Optimal Toughness — An Elongation at Break of around 17% ensures that parts are not overly brittle.
  • Dimensional Stability — Glass fiber reinforcement reduces shrinkage and warping during printing, leading to more accurate large or complex parts.
  • Wear Resistance — Suitable for parts that undergo repeated friction or movement, such as gears, bushings, or mechanical components.
  • Good Interlayer Adhesion — Despite being glass fiber reinforced, it remains easy to print and produces strong, secure layers.

Printing Settings

Since PA6-GF25 is an engineering-grade material, printer settings require more attention than with general filaments:

  • Recommended nozzle temperature is approximately 270–290°C.
  • A hardened nozzle is recommended due to the abrasive nature of glass fibers.
  • Use a PEI build plate for good adhesion.
  • Printing in an enclosed, temperature-controlled chamber (Heated Chamber) is advised to reduce warping.
  • Always dry the filament before printing, as nylon easily absorbs moisture from the air, and keep it in a dry box during printing.

After printing, additional annealing of the parts can further enhance mechanical strength and dimensional stability, making it suitable for heavy-duty or continuously stressed applications.

Ideal Applications

With its strengths in durability, heat resistance, and dimensional stability, PA6-GF25 is used in a variety of industries, such as:

  • Components in production lines and manufacturing.
  • Automotive parts.
  • Tools and fixtures.
  • Functional and structural parts.

Compared to other reinforced composite materials on the market, PA6-GF25 is a cost-effective option, offering a good balance between performance, ease of printing, and long-term real-world applications.
