Description
Snapmaker U1 – Faster Multicolor 3D Printing, Less Waste
The Snapmaker U1 is an FDM 3D printer featuring four toolheads in one machine, designed to solve the classic problem of multicolor printing: time wasted purging old colors from the nozzle and material wasted in the process. With its SnapSwap™ toolhead swapping system, the printer can switch from one color to another in just about 5 seconds, compared to typical single-nozzle printers that often take around 2 minutes per color change. The result is faster multicolor printing and a reduction in purge waste by up to 80%.
Key Features
-
SnapSwap™ Toolhead System: All four toolheads are preheated and snap into position using a precise steel-ball kinematic coupling system, without screws or magnets. Tested for over 1,000,000 swaps without failure.
-
Multi-Material Printing in One Job: With four independent extruders, you can freely combine materials. For example, pair PETG or PVA as easy-to-remove supports, or integrate flexible TPU with rigid PETG/PLA in the same print.
-
High Speed with CoreXY Structure: The X-axis rail is made of lightweight yet strong carbon fiber, supporting a maximum print speed of 500 mm/s and acceleration of 20,000 mm/s². Features a build volume of 270 x 270 x 270 mm.
-
Comprehensive Auto-Calibration System: Adjusts the XYZ position of each toolhead to within 0.04 mm. Includes Input Shaping to reduce vibration, Pressure Advance to control filament flow, and Mesh Bed Leveling for automatic bed leveling, ensuring smooth and accurate prints.
-
Automatic Filament Management System: Supports up to four filament spools simultaneously. Features auto-loading, an automatic backup mode that switches to a new spool when one runs out, and RFID recognition for Snapmaker filaments.
-
Smart Anomaly Detection: Over ten sensors and a 2MP chamber camera detect printing issues such as filament runout, power outages, or toolhead switching problems. Alerts are sent via the app and software.
-
Easy Control via Software and App: Works with Snapmaker Orca (based on OrcaSlicer) and the Snapmaker app for remote printing, status monitoring, and time-lapse recording. Features a built-in 3.5-inch touchscreen and connects via Wi-Fi or USB.

Learn More About Snapmaker U1
Filament Change in 5 Seconds with SnapSwap™

Conventional 3D printers using a filament changer system often spend more time purging the old color from the nozzle than actually printing. But with four toolheads, each preheated and ready with its own filament, the SnapSwap™ system allows the U1 to switch colors or materials by simply swapping the toolhead. This reduces waiting time from about 2 minutes to just about 5 seconds per change.
Virtually No Purge When Changing Colors
Filament changer printers must "purge" or expel all of the old colored filament before starting a new color, leading to wasted usable material. The U1, however, only purges a small amount of degraded material at the start of a print or during flow rate calibration, reducing waste by up to 80% on every print.
Precise and Robust Locking with Kinematic Coupling

The U1 uses a steel-ball kinematic coupling system to precisely lock each toolhead into position without relying on screws, magnets, or additional motors. This system has been tested for over 1,000,000 toolhead swaps without failure.
Save Material, Save Money, Save the Environment
Multicolor printing on conventional printers often creates a large amount of filament waste, sometimes wasting 3-4 times more material than is actually in the finished part. With its smart toolhead swapping system, the U1 significantly reduces this waste, saving both filament and long-term costs.
Combine Materials Freely with 4 Extruders

With four independent extruders, users can freely combine materials as needed. For example, use PETG or PVA as easily removable support material without damaging the print, or integrate flexible TPU with rigid PETG/PLA to create prints that offer both flexibility and strength in the same part, perfect for items like 3D printed bags or custom shoes.
Automatic Calibration for Millimeter-Level Precision

With four toolheads operating at high speeds, precision is essential. The U1's automatic compensation system adjusts each toolhead's position to within 0.04 mm. It reduces vibrations with Input Shaping, working alongside accelerometers. It regulates filament flow with Pressure Advance to minimize over-extrusion or under-extrusion issues, and automatically levels the print bed with Mesh Bed Leveling, ensuring a smooth and consistent first layer.
Automatic Filament Management System, Easy to Use

The U1 comes with a compact automatic filament management system, supporting up to four filament spools simultaneously. This covers everything from auto-loading, eliminating the need for manual filament threading, to a backup mode that automatically switches to a spare spool when the current one runs out. It also includes RFID Recognition, which automatically reads the color, type, and properties of Snapmaker brand filaments, removing the need for manual data entry.
Control and Monitor Prints from Anywhere

Snapmaker Orca software, built upon the OrcaSlicer engine, comes with pre-tested print profiles for Snapmaker materials and machine models. When used with the Snapmaker app, users can start prints, monitor status, and control printing from anywhere. It also records time-lapse videos to review the print process. Additionally, there's a 3.5-inch built-in touchscreen for direct control.
Smart Anomaly Detection Prevents Print Failures

With over ten sensors working in conjunction with precisely engineered mechanisms, the U1 can detect issues during printing and suggest solutions automatically. Furthermore, the chamber camera does more than just record time-lapses; its AI system helps detect problems like tangled filament (spaghetti) or obstructions in the print area, sending alerts via Snapmaker Orca or the app to reduce the risk of wasted time and materials.
500 mm/s Speed with CoreXY Structure

The U1 is built on a CoreXY motion structure with a lightweight yet strong carbon fiber X-axis rail, enabling print speeds up to 500 mm/s while maintaining long-term accuracy across its 270 x 270 x 270 mm build volume.
